HIDDEN

HIDDEN is a Lakota/Anishnaabe multimedia project hailing from Pasqua First Nation - located near the Fort Qu’Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan. Their work primarily focuses on contemporary practice encompassing visuals, sound, and performance.  The project examines and combines various connotations relating to spiritual cosmology, surrealism, popular-media, dark-fantasy, indigenous-storytelling, and its histories to provide an alternative perspective operating within our neocolonial framework. HIDDEN aims to challenge preconceived notions of what Indigenous sound and visuals are by employing various technologies, exploring their capabilities, while offering an ethereal experience.

Soft Ions

For over a decade, Edmonton's Soft Ions has taken audiences through cinematic soundscapes, scoring the soundtrack to an imaginary sci-fi film, or the accompaniment to a new age sound bath session. Live performances build on this atmosphere, often including experimental visuals and instruments. Featuring violins, synths and sounds from nature, the duo contains members of prairie experimental projects such as Zebra Pulse, The Olm, Private Investigators and Kaunsel. Their self-titled debut was released on Pseudo Laboratories in 2017, followed by Nigh (2019), and the group was featured on Canadian Prairie Underground Vol 1 compilation (2023).

LOOMING

LOOMING is the confluence of noise and ambience. Joined together through the union of Jesse Fortier (Echthros, Camp Carin) and Moira Whitworth (manhater). LOOMING creates a diverse soundscape of harsh noise, lush swells and haunting samples that collide into an atmospheric power struggle through electronic instruments and field recordings. Hailing from Treaty 7 Territory, LOOMING’s debut tape “Dead Dogs” is available through label/ publisher Buried In Slag and Debris.
